HUMBER BAY SHORES 5TH ANNUAL WATERFRONT STREET FESTIVAL

This year was Humber Bay Shores 5th Annual Waterfront Street Festival. We attend this festival every year and are never disappointed. We set up our booth/tent, bring down a van full of E-Bikes/E-Scooters and open it up so anyone at the festival can take out an E-Bike for a test ride.

Bay Shores Street Festival brings everyone together to celebrate summer, by packing Marine Parade Drive with vendors, food carts, and music. Our team was able to enjoy the beautiful weather, chow down on some fresh cut fries, sip on some herbal tea, and was able to help answer any questions that anyone had about E-Bikes.

It isn't just the delicious food, astounding music, and the businesses that bring people down to the festival, it is also the stunning view and fresh air.

Humber Bay Shores 5th Annual Waterfront Street Festival had entertainment for the whole family:

  • Artisans’ market
  • Farmers’ Market
  • Children’s village
  • Live music
  • Meet vendors sponsoring the event
  • Great food choices

Imagine walking down Marine Parade Drive, a long stretch of road that runs alongside Humber Bay, if you look beyond the water you are able to see the core of downtown. From here, the skyline looks peaceful, yet, powerful. As you continue down the road, you smell something impeccable. The smell of food fills the air, reminding you that you need to eat some lunch very soon, luckily you have a lot of food to choose from; from fresh cut fries to freshly baked goods. As you ponder the question, “what should I eat”, you take a seat on one of the benches to let yourself think. Instead of the original plan, deciding what to eat, you find yourself watching all the happy people that are walking up and down the road. Food is no longer on your mind because the music and the sunshine have put you into a trance. As you are enjoying the music and catching the golden rays of the sun, you look around and see that everyone is happy. Everyone is in an amazing mood, but why wouldn’t they be. The live music echoes down the road, the smell of delicious food is in the air and everyone is having a blast, this, this is Humber Bay Shores Street Festival.

This year we had the amazing opportunity to work alongside the, "most Canadian”, E-Bike brand, Bionx. Bionx is known for their regenerative braking, capability of going long distances, 4 levels of proportional assist, and their lightweight designs. Bionx sent Matt, one of their employees, with their van filled with a large selection of bikes for everyone to try out. We were excited to see which models they were bringing because a lot of the time they bring down bikes that our team hasn't had the chance to try yet. As soon as we were set up, we had a continuous stream of people coming to the booth asking to take the bikes out for a ride. At one point, all of the test ride bikes, our bikes and Bionx's, were being used.

One of Bionx's newest 2016 products, which we do carry, is the new DS3 display. The display is full colored, with three different screens layouts that can be changed on the fly.

The three layouts include:

  • Simple screen
    • Speed
    • Distance traveled
  • Enhanced (more structure than simple)
    • Speed
    • Distance traveled
  • Technical screen
    • Speed
    • Distance traveled
    • Timer
    • Assist level
    • Clock, and more

One of our main attractions, besides the Amego Husky, was the Amego Fold. With a few simple steps, the Amego Fold can be folded up to be easily stored and transported. The Fold grabbed so much attention, that we had to demo its folding capability a couple of times to a few large groups. Living in Toronto, or any large city, you know the issue we all have when it comes to space. There is never enough space, and storing a bicycle can be a tricky situation. Storing one in your apartment may be close to impossible without taking up a lot of room and keeping it outside can be risky.

We love to see faces light up when someone tries out an E-Bike for the first time. Most people don’t get to personally experience E-Bikes, they usually only hear about it from their friends. When they actually get a chance to take out a bike for a ride, they don’t know what to expect, they always come back smiling in excitement. One of the attendees took out the new Bionx fat bike, named because of the big wheels, and was so excited he made his wife try it out as well.

Having the opportunity to pick a bike, out of dozens, to test out isn't exclusive to events like the Humber Bay Shores Street Festival. We welcome everyone and anyone to come down to Amego, 533 Richmond St W, to check out the store and to take out an E-Bike for a test ride.
